I listened to the song, and although It's not something I would listen to all the time I do see what you are talking about. A thought that was in the back of my head while working on the script was that the Warp Zones could work to travel to other universes and then, it hit me.

This article is about the minigames in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. For the bonus areas in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, see Bonus Challenge (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon).

Bonus Challenges are Bonus Games in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, its remake, and Yoshi's Island DS. When a Yoshi reaches the goal roulette and the roulette lands on a flower, then a Bonus Challenge can be instantly played. In the original Yoshi's Island, a specific Bonus Challenge can also be unlocked and played anytime after getting 800 points in a world; in the later two games, they can be accessed after getting 700 points in a world.

The list of Bonus Challenges are below.

In Yoshi's Island and its remake, the Bonus Challenges available after getting a flower at the goal roulette depends on the world currently being played, as follows:

  • World 1: Flip Cards / Scratch and Match
  • World 2: Drawing Lots / Slot Machine
  • World 3: Match Cards / Roulette
  • World 4: Scratch and Match / Drawing Lots
  • World 5: Flip Cards / Roulette
  • World 6: Match Cards / Slot Machine

Trivia[edit]

  • Drawing Lots was the only Bonus Challenge that did not appear in Yoshi's Island DS, most likely due to the fact that the game has only five worlds as opposed to six, and that the player couldn't use items in this game.
  • In Yoshi's Island DS, the background music shares some similarities with the underwater theme from the original Super Mario Bros.

- Contains speed/entertainment tradeoffs
- 100% completion
- Takes damage to save time
- Forgoes major skip glitch
- Forgoes final boss skip glitch
- Uses a game restart sequence
- Forgoes time-saving glitches
- Foregoes memory corruption
- Genre: Platform
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a vibrant, colorful and fun game that stars the popular Yoshi. From a technical standpoint, the game is very exceptional on the SNES due to its use of the SuperFX² coprocessor. The chip allows for many cool special effects that are otherwise impossible on the SNES.

This is a 100% completion of the game. It plays through all the levels and collects every item that contributes to end-of-level score: 5 flowers, 20 red coins, and 30 stars. By getting 100% completion in each stage, six extra stages are also unlocked. These are played at the end of the run, again with 100% scores.

The authors of the run have spent over three years working on this run, showing off plenty of egg juggling, precise shots, and other incredible antics. This run does not use certain glitches present in the other runs of the game (an any% run and a warp glitch run), but there should still be plenty to surprise you. Reading the authors' lengthy comments is recommended.

This movie by Carl Sagan (no, not that Carl Sagan) is fast-paced, action-packed, and full of entertaining tricks and maneuvers. In other words, the very essence we tool-assisted speedrun makers enjoy. It also improves the previous run of this game by over 5 minutes. For more details, we recommend reading the author's comments; there's a lot more to this movie than meets the eye.

- Major skip glitch

- Executes arbitrary code
- Heavy glitch abuse
- Corrupts memory

This is a quick completion of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Here, the author, Masterjun, abuses a glitch that causes Yoshi's tongue to extend infinitely. This confuses the game and causes it to jump to the SNES CPU registers and start executing arbitrary code, which triggers the credits.

There is also a run without game-breaking glitches and a 100% run.

Exploiting this glitch instead of a glitch that results in corruption of the egg list saved 1:19.26 over the previous movie.
