Dec 16, 2015  Yoshi's Island is great but the 'where the hell do I go' element in some levels is irritating. 17 points 4 years ago. I was foiled from getting 100 by missing a red coin or a flower way more than from not having 30 stars. 15 points 4 years ago. Sole Yoshi's Island vote:(level 2. They drop mostly coins, so it's even harder to collect the 30 Stars needed for that perfect level score. Coins: These coins with Yoshi's face on them are abundant in Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's island piranha plant boss super mario sunshine. Collecting 100 of these nets you an extra life, but that's about the only use for them. The latest Tweets from yoshi flower (@y0shiflower): 'I don't want to be better than you, I don't want to be worse than you, I just want to be with you'. Yoshi's New Island. Flowers return in Yoshi's New Island, now known as 'Smiley Flowers' but functioning the same way as in the game's predecessor. However, as there are no score features or Bonus Challenges in this title, collecting all five increases the chances of getting Egg Medals via the goal roulette.

  • Name's the Same: The theme for the cave levels is called 'Crystal Caves'. There's also a level in Donkey Kong 64 called 'Crystal Caves'.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Notice how in this game and successive Yoshi-themed games that if you complete them with top marks, you get a red flower drawn on your results? This is actually a tradition/cliche in Japan dating back to primary schools where if the teacher is especially pleased with your work, you get a flower circle drawn on the paper. Essentially, the Japanese version of getting a gold star in America.

  • Recycled Set: The Advance version recycles sounds originally used in Yoshi's Story.
  • Market-Based Title: Most likely to play on the success of Super Mario World, the original game was named Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island in North America and Europe, despite the fact that it is a prequel. In Japan, it was simply called Super Mario: Yossy Island. In all countries, the Super Mario World 2 part is dropped completely from the GBA port, in favor of Super Mario Advance 3.
  • Moved to the Next Console: Touch & Go started life as a Gamecube title before being moved to the DS to utilize the handheld's features.
  • Sequel Gap: Twice. DS was released 11 years after the original. Yoshi's New Island was released eight years after DS.
  • Speedrun: Comes in three flavors—glitched, any% glitchless, and 100%.
  • Trope Namer: For Ground Pound.
  • What Could Have Been:

    • There may have been points in the game where you control Baby Mario himself without the star, as there are Dummied Out sprites featuring him crawling and even a Yoshi-less victory pose.
    • There are also unused transformations for Yoshi in the game, including a mushroom, a plane, and a walking tree.
    • There's an oft-told story that Shigeru Miyamoto's bosses at Nintendo were so impressed with the original Donkey Kong Countrynote that they wanted this game to go in a similar direction, which Shigeru Miyamoto disagreed with, creating the well received crayon-style graphics as an act of rebellion.

Yoshi's Island Sheet Musicis 1995 a platform video game developed and publishedby Nintendo. While featuring Nintendo'strademark Mario character, the game's graphics and gameplay differed from all previous Mario games in that players control various Yoshi dinosaurs ratherthan Mario himself, who appears as a helpless infant.( Punch-Out!!, Super Mario series, The Legend of Zelda series) composed its music. In this page you can download sheet music, music files and more for the musical themes of the Super Nintendo (SNES) video game 'Yoshi's Island'. Yoshi Despite its title, this game serves as a prequel to all other games within the established Mario Bros timeline.

Yoshi's New Island

Fooly Flowers[1], originally known as Dizzy Dandies[2], are flower head enemies that appear in every Yoshi's Island game to date. At first sight they will look like the collectible Smiley Flowers, floating in midair, but with a menacing grin. However, when Yoshi approaches them, they will drop to the ground rolling very quickly, squashing any enemies, and hurting Yoshi upon contact. They disappear after hitting a wall. Yoshi can also cause one to prematurely attack by shooting an egg at it from a distance.

In Yoshi's Crafted World, Fooly Flowers have a different role. When Yoshi hits a Winged Timer Cloud with an egg, the challenge provided could possibly be for Yoshi to find the real Smiley Flower among a large group of Fooly Flowers, and throw an egg at the collectible before time expires. Here, if a Fooly Flower gets hit, it simply disappears.
